Exercise Concerns
Safe levels of exercise will depend on the severity of individual symptoms. Regular life-long testing is necessary because of the risk of late arrhythmia development.
Physical exercise is encouraged for patients up to a safe level as a deterrent to heart failure. However, patients with this defect may be advised to avoid strenuous activities and isometric exercises, such as weightlifting and downhill skiing.
Anyone with congenital heart disease, repaired or non-repaired, should consult with their cardiologist about physical activity to review the risks. |
